Bobby Jean
Turner
April 6, 1951 – February 16, 2026
Bobby Jean Turner was born April 6, 1951, in Reynolds, Georgia to the late Otis and Katie Lee Turner in Reynolds, Georgia. He was raised with love, strength and unceasing support. While their absence was felt, he often spoke of them with warmth and gratitude, holding close the lessons and love they shared.
Whether it was his infectious laughter, his caring nature or his ability to turn any moment into a cherished memory, he was a gift to all who had the privilege of knowing him. He attended school at R. L. McDougald in Butler, GA where he was a member of the basketball and track team and built lifelong friendships. After entering adulthood, he became an employee of Blue Bird Incorporated where he retired after 43 years of service. Bobby also joined Little Union Baptist church in Reynolds, GA and served as a devoted deacon for
years.
More than anything Bobby was devoted to his family and friends. He cherished all his relationships, and he was well known as a source of strength, laughter and unwavering support. His love for his family members knew no bounds and he took pride in being a loving and loyal husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin and friend. He is survived by his devoted wife Mae
L. Turner with whom he shared 58 years of devotion and love. He also leaves a legacy to be remembered including his family: son Dexter (Sharell) Lucas, daughters Chikeith Slocumb and Latonia (Lamont) Tucker, Grandchildren Trina Tucker, Tykeya (Shelby) Avant, Dexter Monrico Lucas, Jr., Javis Slocumb, Samuel Philogene-Tucker, Amiyah Lucas, Taj Tucker, and Tristan Slocumb and eleven great-grandchildren. Bobby was also blessed to have the love of his siblings, the late Rosa B. Peterson, Lealer (late C.J.) Dugger, late Romas Turner (Rose), late James (late-Betty) Turner, Otis Turner, Jr. (Toni), Joyce Miller, Jeanette Hilson, Debroah (Michael) McKenzie and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The loss we feel today is deep and profound, yet the story of his life does not end here. It continues to live in the countless lives he touched, in the values he demonstrated and the love that he gave so freely. His journey was marked by compassion, resilience, and quiet strength. He faced life's challenges with bravery and met its joy with a grateful heart.
Though we grieve his absence, we honor him by carrying forward the kindness he showed, the love he modeled, and the integrity he lived by. His memory will continue to inspire strength of times of difficulty and gratitude in moments of joy. He will always be remembered with great love and respect.
