Hattie Mae Harris

Hattie Mae Harris was born in Taylor County in a small town called Mizell, Georgia on January 28, 1935 to the parents of the late Henry Rocqumore and the late Mary Banks Rocqumore.

She attended the public Schools of Taylor County and joined the Welcome Home Baptist Church where she served as the church mother. 

Hattie Mae never forgot the old time ways and what was taught to her, she loved to sew, piecing quilts doing clothing repairs was her passion. She would find comfort and piece of mind in assembling pieces of a puzzle together. She also spent hours solving crossword puzzles. Hattie loved her time spent with her friends at the Taylor County Senior Citizen’s Center.

She met and married the love of her life Robert Hicks Harris in whom she shared 42 years with until his demise in 2000 when God called him home. Hattie Mae gave birth to a daughter Maxine  Harris Dixon.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert Harris, two brothers, aunts and uncles, one step daughter Carolyn Majors

Hattie Mae lived a fruitful life, she never allowed her troubles to stop her from moving on to what God had next for her. She finished life last battle with grace and resolve,  knowing  God would fix it all when she made it down to finishing line. She crossed that line on November 17, 2025 at her home surround by her loving daughter and other supportive family.

Left to cherish her memory are Daughter Maxine Dixon Reynolds, Ga, one sister Maerene R. Jackson of Boston, Mass. a niece Barbara Jackson and one nephew Richard Jackson both of Boston, Mass. three grand children Fredrick Majors of Thomaston, Ga. Cassie “ Kevin” Hooten of Powder Springs, Ga, Astrid Lockhart of Mauk, Ga. and two close and devoted friends Essie Towns whom she served with in the church. Linda Corbin and Raymond Howell two close friends of the family. A host of cousins, other relatives and friends who will miss her.
