Kenny L. Leonard, a beloved husband, father and cherished member of the community, passed away on January 23, 2024, at St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, GA. He was surrounded by his loving family during his final moments. Kenny's memory will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew him as a kind-hearted individual with an infectious sense of humor.


Born on November 21, 1957, in Junction City, GA, Kenny was the son of Ola Mae Leonard and Lee Edwards Snellings. He grew up alongside his sisters Bridgette Hutchins, Demetris Lee, LaShayne Boyd, Melody Snellings, and VladamIr Snellings. Throughout his life, Kenny maintained strong bonds with his family and considered them to be his guiding light.


At Central High School in Talbotton, GA, Kenny obtained an education that served as the foundation for his future endeavors. After graduating, he embarked on a career as a machine operator for Junction City Mining Company. Over the years, he showcased remarkable dedication and became a skilled professional. Despite working hard throughout his career, Kenny always prioritized spending quality time with family. He found immense joy in their company and created countless memories together. Whether he was engaging in lively conversations or embarking on exciting adventures, Kenny treasured every moment shared with loved ones.

He was preceded in death by his parents and son Emanuel Ross.


Outside of work and family life, Kenny had a of hobbies that brought him solace and happiness. He enjoyed fishing trips that allowed him to connect with nature's tranquility while patiently waiting for the perfect catch. Additionally, he delighted in cutting grass and diligently tending to his yard—a testament not only to his attention to detail but also to his love for nurturing growth and beauty. Cooking was another passion of Kenny's; he took pleasure in preparing delicious meals for family gatherings.


Notably, Kenny had a deep affinity for driving and riding. There was something about being on the road that invigorated his spirit and provided him with an unparalleled sense of freedom. Whether it was cruising through scenic routes or exploring new destinations, these experiences allowed him to embrace life's adventures fully.


Kenny's vibrant personality endeared him to all who crossed his path. He had a remarkable ability to make anyone feel comfortable in his presence, never meeting a stranger and effortlessly forging connections. His quick wit and infectious laughter brightened the lives of those around him, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him.


In honor of Kenny's life and the memories he leaves behind, a Funeral Service will be held on February 3, 2024, at New Salem Baptist Church in Talbotton, GA. The service will begin at 1:00 PM and provide an opportunity for friends and family to pay their respects. The church, located at 2060 Geneva Hwy in Talbotton, GA, will serve as a peaceful setting for collective remembrance.


Kenny is survived by his loving wife Jannis Leonard, their children Kenny (Jovaugh) Leonard, Danielle Nicole Leonard (Deshonna) Nicholes, and Quanessa (Marvin) Towns. His memory will also be cherished by his sisters Bridgette Hutchins, Demetris (James) Lee, LaShayne (Keech) Boyd, Melody Snellings, and VladamIr Snellings.


During this time of profound grief, may we find solace in the memories we shared with Kenny. Let us remember him as a dedicated family man who always brought laughter into our lives.
