Minister Melvin Blasingame

Melvin Blasingame was born January 16, 1949 in Roberta, Georgia to the parentage of Josephus and Matttie Blasingame. He grew up in Crawford County the place he loved and called home. He grew in a Christian home of love and nurture. The Olive Grove Community and Olive Grove Baptist Church was the foundational pillar during Melvin adolescence. 

 He attended the public schools of Crawford County where he graduated. After completion of high school he served his country by enlisting in the US Army he serve faithfully for two years before joining the workforce at Martha Mills in Thomaston, Georgia.

He met and married the love of his life Annie Lois Brazil Blasingame on Sept 10, 1973, this beautiful union endured 51 years of marital bliss, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and uncle.

Melvin loved attending church and was a ordained minister. He would often find peace at his favorite fishing spots. Spending time with is his family was his special time to be loved and to show it to the people he adored. Melvin was known to hoop in his day and he love the sport of basketball, Michael Jordan was his favorite player of the sport. His favorite food was bake chicken, he was never afraid to take a shot at new things. He liked working on cars. He was good at Brick Masonry and was a Aircraft Painter for Robins Air Force Base in Warner Robins where he retired.

He was a faithful member Joy Tabernacle Learning Church in Roberta. Where he served with the body of Christ. 

Our beloved Melvin took Flight quietly surrounded by those who loved him on September 1, 2025 at Regency Hospital in Macon, Ga. 

He was preceded in death by his Father & Mother Josephus & Mattie Blasingame, a brother Kenneth Blasingame.

Left to cherish his memory; loving wife Annie Lois Blasingame, Children: Derrick Whiters, Randy ( Marcie) Blasingame, Durand (Keisha) Blasingame, Linda Holmes, Laura (Robert) Rutherford, Wendy (McKenzie) Blasingame, Tammie Blasingame. Brothers: Carnell Blasingame, Donald Blasingame, Joe Blasingame, Andy Blasingame. Sisters: Lula (Walter) Bonds,  Christine Harvey, Annie Ruth Blasingame. Sister-in-law Carolyn Blasingame Grandchildren: Jeremiah, Jareel, Audrey, India, Alexis, Jordan, Lauren, Michael, Russell, Rayden, Maya, Diana, Great Grandchild Susan along with three additional martial grandchildren  and a host of neices, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends who will miss him.
