He was a native of Macon, County he grew up & attended the public school there. As a youth he joined what was known as Hicks Church now known as New Home. As a young man he set his sails for better which landed him in Baltimore, Maryland where he made his life. He was a crain operator for Bethlehem Steel fo 40 years until his retirement. He returned back home to Georgia in 1996 and reconnected with his roots. Unpn returning home he worked for Taylor County School System. He continued his service as a Deacon in the church he grew up in. He loved his family & friends. He was a lover of gospel music & gospel singing he sanged with serveral gospel groups & choirs. His favorite pass time was landscaping & singing. He transitioned following after a brief illness at Navicent Health Medical Center in Macon, Ga on Wednesday July 21, 2020. Rest from the Master's Employ battle fought and victory is won. He will be remember by his family for ever. He is survived by a loving wife Mary Hicks Hankerson 3 children Rose (Michael) Proctor, Lovonia Jones, Eugene (Lisa) Hankerson Jr. All of Baltimore, Maryland, Sisters Marion (Ted) Davis and Eleanor Lake and host of other relatives and friends
